Where Do We Look to Find Our Self?

Where do we look to find our self?
Not in a mirror or on a shelf.
We have to dig deep within our heart
Even if it’s been torn all apart.
God has made each of us for a reason.
All of my trials and tribulations last only
for a season. We define ourselves by
what we’ve been through, when in fact
that’s the time that we grew.
It’s hard to say, but my loss is for my gain.
Yes it hurts, but God also feels my pain.
So when I close my eyes at night,
I know that God is helping me win this fight.
In the end, am I
What God in me? If the answer is no to this,
I may wind up in the great abyss.
So who am I? I don’t know,
but I hope that God in me starts to show.
